De-centralized
Composting – Gated Communities within
GHMC
GHMC is promoting De-centralized
composting, primarily in all the gated communities in all the 30 circles of
Hyderabad.
As per the Solid
Waste Management Rules, 2016 all the Gated Communities & Institutions with
more than 5,000 sq. area, should ensure segregation of waste at source by
generators, also, the bio-degradable waste (wet Waste – Food Waste, Vegetable
waste, Leaf & flower litter waste) shall be processed, treated and disposed
off through composting or bio-methanation within the premises, to achieve zero
waste management.
The various
techniques of composting such as vermin – composting, Eco-pot composting,
Machinery Composting could be adopted as per the convenience. The details of
various methods of composting and the composting machines for procurement are
available in detail, under “Announcements “ in the http://www.ghmc.gov.in/. The compost thus
generated can used as a natural fertilizer in gardens.
GHMC is on
mission mode to promote/motivate and thus implement decentralized composting in
all the Gated Communities, by end of April 2018. A circular on the same will be
given in every gated community for implementation.
