Citizens join hands with GHMC “Plogging with Jogging”
In the twin cities every day in the early morning hours
thousands of people will be taking part in the morning walk on the main roads,
parks, playgrounds right from younger people
to old people it’s a common phenomena while on walking / jogging the
people who are taking part and making a habit to picking up garbage waste like
water bottles/ plastic bottles waste papers, trash etc., this is one of the
innovative method is being planned by the GHMC officials in the city.
The Commissioner stated that around 22,000 sanitation
workers are taking up sanitation work every day in the entire twin cities but
due to some of the irresponsible people the city is getting very shabby look
for their negligence of throwing waste on the roads. If this type of programme introduce
will definitely help the GHMC if all the citizens join hands with GHMC “Plogging
with Jogging” every day to make the city cleaner, greener and healthier
atmosphere with pollution free environment.
The Commissioner has directed all the Deputy
Commissioner, AMOHS, Sanitation Wing must coordinate with their respective
colony welfare associations, morning walkers association to take up this
activity in the entire twin cities very soon.
The main concept of the programme is to involve the citizens
who are taking part in Jogging, walking etc., in the early hours to hold a
plastic trash bag to collect the garbage waste which is being thrown a scattered
on main roads and other places while Jagging / walking etc., in the early
hours.
Plogging is a Swedish fitness trend that combines
running with picking up litter this trend encourages people to pick up litter
while on running walking etc., this has been taken up in western parts of the
Countries who are taking up this type of Plogging cum jogging everyday it is
just not for good health but also for the cleaning of the environment.
Plogging combines going for a run to collect rubbish,
garbage waste scattered on roads, parks etc., which actually sounds like a
pretty satisfying work out. According to one of the survey one walker will burn 288 collieries in a span
of 30 minutes all the need is running with a bag to collect trash garbage waste
etc., will not only improve our own health but also cleaning part of the
community too.
As a part of the Plogging cum Jogging programme the
GHMC has taken up this programme at Samalakunta KLN Park at Sanathnagar and at
Langur house main road with the help of morning walkers where Sri N. Ravi
Kiran, AC(H&S), Sri Bhargav Narayan, Aizaz Khasim Medical Officers and
senior officials of the GHMC have taken part in the programme
